March 22, 1999 To Whom It May Concern: The Methanol Foundation (MF) is seeking candidates for the 1999 Methanol Foundation Scholarship Awards. MF is accepting letters of application from graduate level students in the Engineering and/or Environmental Sciences field, and who intend to pursue energy or environmental careers. Of particular interest are those students who are concentrating their studies in alternative energy technology research and development, especially the advancement of emerging methanol fuel cell technologies. The MF Scholarship is an award of $1000.00 to assist graduate students who excel in their areas of study. As a non-profit educational and scientific organization, MF is dedicated to supporting the greater use of methanol as a clean energy source. The Foundation focuses the scientific and educational resources of public, private, non-profit and academic organizations to advance technologies for methanol production and use. Additionally, MF promotes efforts to educate the public and academia on the environmental benefits of using methanol and its derivatives as a fuel source. At the conclusion of the grant period, MF requests that the student submit an abstract (5 pages double-spaced), describing the completed study and the derived conclusions. Upon review and acceptance of the study, MF intents to post the abstract on the web site of the Methanol Foundation, and to use the paper in various informational packages. To apply,
